Digital Technology Transformation in Investment Banking

Problem Statement – Three of the Global Investment Banking client organisations were operating an old-style Trading Systems that were experiencing slowperformance, unreliable and prone to causing disruption to the Business and issues with the Customer-Experience

This global Top Tier Three Investment Banking Organisations separately engaged us via a partnership with a vendor to review its existing/legacy Investment Trading Systems & Strategy and make recommendations for transforming it with Digital Trading Systems that could be automated and integrated with a number of middleoffice & back-office systems. This was necessary to improve the speed & performance in order to respond to the customers needs as well as maintain competitiveness in a very highly contested Investment Banking Market where ‘Speed-is-everything’.

We effectively performed 360-degree strategic reviews, presented recommendations at up to CxO level. We identified a number of suitable partners & vendors, Digital Trading Solutions, opportunities for improvement, designed a programme of work to underpin the rollout & delivery, organisational structure, people skills & capabilities. Our Specific responsibilities & activities, included (this is just a short summary):

  • Definition & execution of ‘Vision Strategy & Roadmap’, aligning technology with the client business needs.
  • Effectively performed a 360-degree strategic reviews, presenting recommendations at up to CxO level, and setup the agreed programme for successes e.g. People, Processes, Systems/Tools.
  • Led the development of Digital Trading Systems Strategy & Architecture and Transformation & Transition Roadmap and detailed delivery plans.
  • Developed & coordinated large-scale Bid/ITT, vendor selection behalf of the Client.
  • Managed Vendor Contractual delivery assurance to agreed Governance, Price, KPIs, Milestones and managed scope-creeps.
  • Leadership of large resourcing pools of 200+ staff with global remit, including internal & external staffing & partners.
  • Managed global tier-1 vendors/partners e.g. Avaya, IPC, SUNGARD, BT Global Services, etc.
  • Tracked multi-vendor delivery progress and reported at C-Level Exec Board and Executive Stakeholders

Successfully delivered large-scale Digital Trading Systems Transformation while preserving Client’s critical Trading Operations 24 x 7 without any disruption to their day-to-day Business. This was considered as the most difficult & high-risk technology Transition. Overall improved Customer Experience and mitigated reliability issues.
